Designed with Purpose
Oak Inc. was founded with a clear purpose: to preserve and advance authentic Bermudian architecture and craftsmanship, balancing tradition with forward-looking design-led thinking. The studio grew out of the work and vision of Dimitrius J. N. Richardson, a NCCER Certified Carpenter and emerging architect whose career began in the trades and evolved through hands-on experience across Bermuda’s construction and housing sectors. Dimitrius has worked extensively throughout the island, including with the Bermuda Housing Corporation, gaining practical insight into residential design, construction realities, and the social impact of the built environment. Carpentry was his entry point into design, shaping a deep respect for material, structure, and buildability—values that continue to guide Oak Inc.’s approach to architectural and carpentry design.
To bring this vision to scale, Dimitrius partnered with Zakary Nzabalinda, Strategic Business Development Partner, whose background supporting purpose-driven entrepreneurs, creatives, and non-profit initiatives helped transform a design practice into a structured studio. Together, they formed Oak Inc. as an architecture and carpentry design studio rooted in Bermudian identity, local craftsmanship, and long-term impact. The studio is further strengthened by Edward Ball, a master carpenter with over 25 years of experience, who serves as an advisor and third-party producer, bringing traditional expertise, precision, and mentorship into the work. Collectively, the team is building Oak Inc. with an eye toward the future—expanding from custom carpentry and architectural design into furniture, community-led projects, and initiatives that reinvigorate the trades. At its core, Oak Inc. exists to invest in Bermuda: its homes, its people, and the next generation of architects and carpenters who will shape what comes next.
